This is the good news for all Singaporean online users! IDA, Singapore is going to launch The Next Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN).

Next Gen NBN is the wired Generation National Infocomm Infrastructure (Next Gen NII), a project under the Intelligent National 2015 (iN2015) masterplan to transform Singapore into an intelligent nation and global city, powered by Infocomm.


The new internet technology will using Fibre optics and will be connect through cable.
Right now, some of the part of Singapore will begin install the fibre optics in phrases. It will be totally rolled up by 2012.

Internet consumer will soon enjoys the fastest and experience the richer media delivery, seamless communications, networked equipment and appliances.

It is expected that opennet can provide innovative services such as interactive IPTV, telehealth, remote office, and hi-definition video conference to consumers.
They can also enjoy benefits such as enhanced interactivity and collaboration at the comfort of their homes.

http://www.opennet.com.sg/network-rollout/fibre-me-up/ to find out when openet will be fibre at your house. For the first 15th metre, it will be fibre for free, follow by S$30 per 5 metre block if you would like to extend it fibre.

If you opt out now and want to install next time, you have to pay for the fees to fibre at your house. You need to pay S$220 for 15th metre block for Residential High Rise or S$450 for Landed home owner.


The opennet have not operate it service yet, it is believe that it will be launching soon within next year.
Hopefully, it will be cheaper and more attractive internet package for the consumer.
